A Different Kind of Hybrid
Architect Markus Voglreiter has created a distinct car shaped home built on the border of a nature preserve near Salzburg, Austria. The home is loaded with sustainable and energy-saving technology, particularly a ’3 liter’ energy-efficient heating and insulation system that moderates energy consumption and prevents waste. In case you couldn’t already tell, the wheels of the house are just windows. This automobile home isn’t going anywhere.
The design of the home is a jab at the gas-guzzling car culture that has become the trademark of wealthy countries. Suburbanites tend to be a little judgmental when it comes to the homes in their neighborhood. This compact and energy efficient home is good for someone willing to sacrifice luxury for low-impact.
Seeing this home immediately made me laugh. I can just imagine how a neighbor with a more traditional sense of style could become unreasonably pissed off to have this home sitting next to him/her. You would really need a good sense of humor and an appreciation for originality to enjoy living next to this car shaped home.
