You can try out the widget by pressing the Play Asteroids button above. The widget can be downloaded from the plugins page at WordPress.
The WordPress plugin can be customized to your preferences by allowing you to add a description and/or image as well as controlling which pages the Asteroids widget appears on. Give it a try and I guarantee you will be impressed. The widget implements a javascript by Erik Rothoff Andersson based on the classic game, Asteroids.
The widget is based on a HTML sidebar widget. That means that you can edit any text or insert pictures by placing HTML code in the side description. Something like <img src=”http://electrictreehouse.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/asteroids.jpg” height=”100″ width=”150″/> will insert the classic asteroids logo. Or upload an image to your own site and set the source to your link.

To edit the formatting of the description, insert code like <p style=”font: 14pt/20pt Garamond, Georgia, serif;color:#ff9900;”>Your description/directions</p>
Your description/directions
Change the widget to fit the character of your webpage. I want this widget to be easily integrated. It should be a cool feature and not a tacky add-on.

Hi there, I am testing out your widget on my new site, it seems pretty cool but I was wondering if there is a way to change the color of the ship? the ship is white so its hard to on my page. any thoughts?
That's a good idea. I'm working on the next update and I will definitely include something like that. The number of colors will have to depend on how the color is changed within the code. Any color in particular you think would be good?
Hi there, great plugin! I'm trying to implement, but I'd like to not use it as a widget, I'd like instead, have a link within my content that links or trigger the ship. I have seen here and you have a onclick="startAsteroids();" as link on the button, tried that but I think I'm missing things. So my question is, is there a way that I can trigger the code by a link within my own content, graphic, without being a widget? Thanks so much for any help you can give me.
What you are talking about is called a "shortcode" and no, I have not yet added that to the widget. I am working on it and I'll let you know when it is ready. Thanks for trying out the widget!
I added a simple shortcode. Now if you add [asteroids] to a post or page, the Asteroids Button will appear.
Just wanted to tell you I love this PlugIn. I added it to my site quite some time ago and people seem to love it. Wanted to show some appreciation and give my respect, very well done. Thanks for sharing!
